Privacy Policy

Effective September 7, 2026. Applies to the Open Road Ace apps for iOS and Android and to openroadace.app, all made by KyrosWorks LLC.

The short version

The apps have no accounts, no servers, no analytics, and no ads. Your runs, courses, and logs stay on your device until you choose to share them. The only things that leave your device are the ones you send: an exported log, a position report to an RTK corrections service you set up yourself, and a purchase through Apple or Google.

What the app stores on your device

  • Courses you record or import, including their GPS tracks.
  • Your settings, including target speed, receiver choice, and antenna offset.
  • Run history: course, date, target speed, finish delta, and average speed for each run.
  • Telemetry logs for each run: GPS positions, speeds, timestamps, receiver status, and the app's timing state. The app uses these to score the run and to help diagnose problems.

This data lives in the app's private storage. It stays there until you delete it in the app or uninstall the app. The app does not back it up to any KyrosWorks server. Your phone's own backup (iCloud or Google) may include it under your phone's settings.

What leaves your device, and when

  • Exports you share. When you share a run log, a course, or a GPX file from the app, it goes to the app or person you pick in the share sheet. Nothing is sent until you do that.
  • RTK corrections. If you set up an NTRIP corrections service, the app connects to the caster you entered, signs in with the username and password you entered, and sends it your approximate position (a standard NMEA GGA sentence) so the caster can pick a nearby base station. That is how NTRIP works. The position goes only to that caster, under that caster's privacy terms. Your caster username and password are stored on the device: in the iOS Keychain, or in the Android app's private settings store. You can clear them in Settings.
  • Purchases. On iOS you buy the app from Apple. On Android the one-time unlock goes through Google Play Billing. Apple or Google handle the payment and hold your payment details. The app records on the device that the unlock is owned. KyrosWorks does not receive your name, card, or address.

Permissions, and why we ask

  • Location (precise). To time your run. The app needs your position while a run is armed or in progress. On Android the app runs a foreground service during a run so timing continues with the screen off, and Android shows a notification while it does. Location is used on the device only.
  • Bluetooth. To connect to external GPS receivers such as RaceBox, XGPS-160, and RTK receivers.
  • Network. For NTRIP corrections you set up, and for Google Play Billing on Android. The app makes no other network requests.
  • Notifications (Android). For the run-in-progress notification that Android requires for the foreground service.

No analytics, no tracking, no ads

The apps contain no analytics, crash-reporting, advertising, or tracking code, and they do not fingerprint your device. The iOS app declares no tracking to Apple. If the app crashes, the only report is the one your phone's operating system offers to send to Apple or Google under your own settings.
